Expanding her passion for teaching beyond traditional educational settings, Dr. Knowles is the creator and host of the virtual teaching series In the Shadows, Yet Essential. Through this inspirational platform, she explores the lives of biblical and historical figures who are often overlooked or mentioned only briefly in scripture and history, yet played critical roles in fulfilling a greater purpose. Each episode invites viewers to uncover timeless lessons in faith, leadership, perseverance, obedience, service, and purpose, demonstrating how individuals, who may never have stood in the spotlight, still made a significant impact on the lives of others and on God's greater plan. Through these teachings, Dr. Knowles encourages audiences to recognize the value of their own contributions, even when they go unseen or unrecognized.

Dr. Knowles earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, with a focus on social justice, equity, and inclusion. Her research examines the role K–12 education plays in ending cyclical poverty and advancing equitable outcomes for historically marginalized communities. Through her leadership, consulting, writing, and nonprofit work, Dr. Knowles continues to create opportunities that empower students, families, and communities to reach their fullest potential.
